Arie Isom - When others gave up, Arie decided she was going to make sure all the chromebooks got plugged in right and were ready to go for everyone the next day in Dutch Hall. She did this without being asked or told. Arie saw a problem and took it upon herself to fix it.
Atticus Budnik- Atticus ignored distractions in Dutch Hall and worked on his typing assignments. He is turning in assignments ahead of time in most classes.
Avalon Breese - Avalon is always a role model student in class. She comes prepared, stays focused, and consistently shows respect for others. She also contributes thoughtful ideas to our classroom discussions and has a great way of adding meaningful thoughts to the conversation. I am so proud of the positive example she sets for others!

What many people don't see is the work that teachers put in to ensure that all children are growing in their learning. In this picture are all of the 8th grade core teachers collaborating on how to ensure students are growing in ELA. All of these teachers teach ELA intervention and care greatly about tracking the growth of all students. There is a lot of work that is done behind the scenes to ensure student success. Way to go team!

Mason Nowack - Mason cleaned up his lunch table after all of his friends left without being asked. He also helped another student with their lunch box.
Easton Geisler - Easton has been coming to class prepared, focusing on his work, and getting his assignments completed.
Addy Newbound - Addy helped a group of students out on the first day of school who were struggling with the activity. She made sure the group was able to complete the activity and understood how to do it. The activity was to make the longest paper chain using teamwork.
Christian Brand - Christian and another student participated in the rock, paper, scissors tournament and showed great sportsmanship by shaking hands before they battled.
Elijah Ghormley - Elijah and another student demonstrated great sportsmanship during a rock, paper, scissors tournament before they battled by shaking hands.

Asher Weppner - Asher has been prepared for class and is doing a great job of managing being a part of both intermediate and advanced bands. He has been a great role model for our younger band students.

It was so much fun to see all of the students enjoing our pep assembly in our new gym. It was great to see most of the student body able to sit in bleachers and get excited about being back to school. Congratulations to Kade Skornia for being our winner in the TV drawing. He was randomly selected from all students that had turned in their online registration and free and reduced lunch form. It's been a great start to the school year at OMS!

We are excited to get fall activities started and wanted to let you all know that we will continue to have our middle school student section in the south end zone this year. Last year we averaged over 100 students per game and had a great time cheering on the Dutchmen. At Friday night games students can sit in the student section or sit with a guardian. We will open the gate at the south end of the track at 6:45 to allow students to enter the student section. Since we are so close to the field during the game, students who are sitting in the student section must stay until halftime. During halftime students will be able to visit the concession stand and restrooms. Students that are leaving before the game is over need to leave with a guardian or parental consent to leave with someone else. There will be no student section tonight at the Jamboree. Next Friday, August 24th will be our first home game where we will have the student section available. We hope to have a big crowd next week to cheer on the Dutchmen!

REMINDER: Middle School sport practices officially start up Monday, August 17th for 6th/7th/8th Boys and Girls Cross Country, 7th/8th Girls Basketball, and 7th/8th Football. In order to participate in practice, student athletes must have all of their forms filled out with an up to date physical in FinalForms. Physicals are good for 2 years, so if your student-athlete had a physical on file previously that has not yet expired then they are still good to go. Congratulations to Frank Clancy who took 5th place in the 6th grade Health and Physical Education Academic Test in Nashville, TN at the National BETA Convention. What a great accomplishment and way to represent OMS!
