Proposition GCR2

On April 7, 2026, the Gasconade County R-2 School District will ask voters to consider an extension to the current debt tax levy of .67 cents per $100 in assessed value, in order to procure $14.9 million in bonds for several facility upgrades. This bond proposal will retain the current debt service levy rate (also known as a no-tax-rate increase), which has been in place since 2006. The purpose of this page is to provide information to voters. Questions? Email Dr. Jeri Kay Hardy (jhardy@dutchmen.us) or Dr. Staci Johnson (stacijohnson@dutchmen.us) or call (573) 646-1015.

GCR2's values are tradition, pride, and excellence. Our goal is for every student to graduate with the five traits outlined in our portrait of a graduate: resilient learner, collaborative problem-solver, effective communicator, responsible citizen, and empathetic adult. Our community helped to define these values during the last five years of our strategic planning process.

In 2023 and 2024, GCR2 ran two bond issues, which were favored by the majority of voters but failed to meet the 56.7% majority required to pass.

For the last two years, we have gone back to our constituents, focused on our values, and reorganized our long-range planning committee to review and make new recommendations to the Board of Education.

Tradition, Pride, Excellence

Community feedback

Through community surveys, focus groups, and the long-range facility committee feedback, several themes were identified.

Current locker rooms at the HS are original to the building. Since then, several athletic programs and PE courses have been added and outgrown the space. Plumbing is in need of repair and replacement.

Locker Rooms

Relocating the locker room will also allow for its current home in the Ag building to become an additional bay for construction trades. With the addition of multiple Career Education programs over the last five years, the Ag wing would be able to house Construction Trades, Automotive Technology, Screen Printing, and all of our Ag programs.

HS Auditorium Description

Currently, the small gym is a shared space for PE, drama classes, wrestling, cheer/dance, and rehearsals and performances. The locker rooms are used for visiting teams, dressing rooms, and storage.
