Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Staci Johnson, applied for and was awarded the 'COPS Safety Grant' for the district that covers half the cost of a new bus camera system going in all of our school buses.
The Gasconade County R2 Technology Director, Nicole Grannemann, stated, "We chose Verkada cameras for our buses because they are user-friendly for navigating live and historical video. Also, we already use Verkada cameras throughout all of our buildings." The cameras allow administrators to remote live into a school bus at any time during their route to see the live camera feed if there should be any issue. In addition, the cameras will store a backup of routes for a period of time in case footage needs to be looked back on.
Our tech team has been working diligently to get these new cameras and systems installed to help keep our students safe. Each bus will have 3 cameras. One is installed and mounted in the front, middle, and back of the bus.

Owensville Middle School had 20 singers from the OMS Honor Choir participate in this year’s All-District Choir. They’ve been working in class on this year’s difficult music to prepare for a full day of rehearsals with other students from the Central District before putting on a concert for parents/family/friends at Waynesville High School. They also got to spend the day learning from an amazing director, Mr. Zachary Stelzer, who currently teaches in the KC area. A HUGE THANK YOU to OHS teacher Mrs. Behrens for helping Mrs. Ward by driving and chaperoning this amazing group today!!!
Last fall, 25 of our Owensville High School Troubadours members auditioned for the Four Rivers Conference Choir, and 16 of those 25 were selected. They’ve spent time during January working on the four songs for this year’s choir so that they could travel to Union High School for a full day of rehearsals with their guest director, Dr. Jordan Cox from Missouri Baptist University. It was a wonderful day of creating art together, which culminated in a performance for parents/family/friends. This choir will come together again on Tuesday, February 10th to sing at Hermann High School (9:30 am) and Union High School (1:00 pm) during the school day.
