Great job by our OHS Scholar Bowl team at the tournament at Fatima last weekend. Big congrats to Ethan Blankenship for medaling with a score of 305!

Both OES and GES were spreading cheer today!
At GES, they continued their annual tradition of 'Fancy Lunch'. This tradition has been longer than 20 years now. At 'Fancy Lunch', 5th grade students serve lunch to their peers, teachers, and some community members join in. Many staff members and students alike dress up for the occasion. The overhead lights are off and the cafeteria is lit with Christmas lights, the fireplace on the television, fake candles, and other Christmas decorations.
OHS Seniors Ashden Murphy (keys), Eli Shields (drums), and Emily Hilburn (guitar) went over to OES today to perform Christmas tunes for all of the students while they ate their lunch. They did a wonderful job! Staff and students alike enjoyed the holiday tunes.

David Koppelmann, assistant cross-country and track coach at OHS, was awarded the Charlie Finch Distinguished Assistant Coach Award in Columbia last night. This award is a Missouri Track & Cross Country Coaches Association (MTCCCA) honor recognizing dedicated assistant coaches. Congratulations to Coach Dave!
Coach Dave is in his 11th year of teaching at OHS. He has been the assistant cross-country coach for 12 years, and an assistant for track for 13 years.
Coach Candrl, the head cross-country and track coach, had this to say about Coach Dave:
"Dave has been a valuable and dedicated part of our Track and Field and Cross Country program the last 12 years and showcased his capabilities and knowledge this past season. He is very deserving of this award."
After receiving the award, Coach Dave said the following:
"This is an award given to me because of what the athletes have given me. It’s a we over me award because I couldn’t have received this award without incredible athletes who’ve trusted and invested in me over the 13 years of coaching. We work really well together, and they have done a great job at bringing my vision to life and making me look like a pretty good coach!"
