We are currently on day 10 of summer school. Yesterday, our high schoolers who were attending Session 1 only finished up and are done for the summer. In total, GCR2 has had 547 students attend summer school this year. Summer school ends for everyone on Friday, June 19th.

Welcome to team GCR2!

Owensville Middle School Gym Update:
The painting is now finished in the small gym, and the HVAC unit is now on the roof as opposed to in the corner of the gym shown in the last picture. The HVAC unit being on the roof has helped with the sound in the gym tremendously, as the previous unit created a lot of noise in the gym. The hardwood will be getting installed this week.

This morning, 26 Dutchmen Football players were at morning practice. The football team meets from 6:30 am - 8:30 am every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the Dutchmen Football Field.

Welcome to team GCR2!

Last night was the first night of Dutchgirl Volleyball Summer Camp. The OES gym was filled with volleyball players working hard. Way to go Dutchgirls!
This morning, our Dutchgirls Softball team had morning practice before weight room and speed training. The Dutchgirl Softball team is meeting on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 7:30 am - 9 am at the softball field.

The floor that served Owensville High School since 1987 provided nearly 40 years of service to our students, athletes, staff, and community. From wrestling meets, basketball and volleyball games to graduations, concerts, assemblies, and countless other events, it has been the foundation for many memorable moments. Thanks to everyone who took some time to share some of those memories on our last update about the OHS gym floor.
Underneath the gym floor, between the foundation and wood, are puck-shaped shock absorbers scattered all throughout the surface. After decades of use, these components had reached the end of their service life, making this replacement project an important investment in the future of our facilities. You can see in the photos that all the pucks become smashed over time, but in some areas, they are nearly completely flat or literally smashed to dust from use over time.
The fact that our gym floor lasted nearly four decades is a testament to the care and maintenance it received over the years. Thank you to all of the maintenance staff who helped to make this gym floor last as long as it did. Also, thank you to the crew who helped to remove the gym floor to prepare it for the new floor to be installed.
As the new floor is installed, we will share updates of what that process looks like!

Last week was the first week of summer athletic participation, and our student athletes did a great job of showing up! Thank you to all the parents who helped to get their student athletes to Dutchgirl Softball summer camp, Dutchmen Football, and to the speed and weight training.
Softball had 20 campers and 15 OHS Softball players helping out throughout the camp. In the weight room and at speed training, there were almost 60 high schoolers participating and 25 middle schoolers.
Attached to this post are the OHS summer camps schedule, the weight and speed training schedule, and the OMS Cross Country summer optional practices schedule.

The Owensville High School big gymnasium floor is being replaced this summer. The first steps of removing the floor have started this morning. A lot of great memories have been made on this floor from basketball games, wrestling meets, band concerts, choir concerts, craft fairs, and many more. What are your favorite memories that took place on this hardwood?

Thank you to Owensville Family Eye Care for sponsoring the signs for the state track and field signs this year!

Fun Friday at GES! Summer school students playing wiffle ball, gaga ball, kickball, basketball, sidewalk chalk, karaoke, forts being built, and just being active!

Welcome to team GCR2!

Day two of Dutchgirl Softball summer camp! Be sure to check out the sports summer camps schedule available in the last photo.

Summer school at GCR2 started today, and students at OMS were busy getting started this morning.
Maintenance and summer renovations are underway. In these photos, you see the progress of the interior of the Owensville Middle School Gym, a crane in the parking lot to lift units onto the roof of the gym, exterior maintenance of the building, and mowing.
Welcome to team GCR2!

School may not be in session today, but we have a lot of students on campus! The Dutchgirl Softball team had the first day of softball camp this morning for incoming 3rd to 8th graders, Dutchmen Football players met for the first time this summer, and the summer training schedule for speed and strength training started today as well. Check out the summer training schedule in the last picture to see the opportunities our student-athletes have over the summer for speed and strength training.
